- Abstract
In this article we examine financial support given by the Finnish baby boomers (born 1945-1950) to their parents and adult children. We ask: Do Baby boomers give more financial aid to their children than to their parents? And what factors explain the given financial assistance? A significant part of the Baby boomers gives financial support to their children, but only a few give it to their parents. According to logistic regression analysis, Baby boomers who a) have a higher socio-economical status b) consider that their children's financial situation is bad c) have at least four children (compared to those who have only one child), are more likely to give financial support to their children. In this article we look at our results from sociological, economical and evolutionary points of views.
