- Title
SIMULATING A TSUNAMI.
- Abstract
The article discusses research that is being conducted to construct a tsunami generator, which will be used to assess the impact of the giant waves on the coastal regions in England. A team of marine engineering experts and researchers from the University College London in London, England, are developing the generator which is likely to be completed in 2008. The mechanism for the generator involves the air suction method in an inverted tank. The manmade tsunami will recreate the effect of waves passing from deep to shallow water. The researchers will study the effects of the retreating and repeated waves on the sea walls and measure the force of the waves on buildings and determine their ability to erode the coastline.
