The article discusses French historian Prosper Mérimée and portrayal of food, feasting, and French culture in his literary works. Topics discussed include his book "Lokis" and short story "La Vénus d'Ille", opinion of author Antonia Fonyi on representation of fine dining in Mérimée's works, and portrayal of barbarism, cannibalism, and vampirism in fictional works of Mérimée.
