- Abstract
This monograph presents a relationship between cerebellum and implicit memory, and raises the possibility that the cerebellum acts as executor of non-motor functions, for which, the main lines of research that link the cerebellum in motor and cognitive functions are reviewed. The study of different authors explains how they came to support the idea that the cerebellum has a structural and functional plasticity that enables execute and sometimes process non-motor functions. The first part analyzes the study of the cerebellum as executor of motor functions in patients and animals with specific cerebellar ablations and injuries. It is followed by a review of the possible relationships the cerebellum may have in the execution of cognitive functions, those defined as nonmotor, and makes reference to this line of research, supported by neuroimaging studies, which are not exempt from criticism. The third point is an examination of the prevailing memory models in cognitive psychology, which allows sustaining a functional relationship of the cerebellum in long-term memory, specifically the non-declarative or implicit memory
