An essay is presented on the French translations of author Tristan Tzara's collection of Romanian-language poems. It profiles Tzara who was born in Romania, but lived in Paris, France for the rest of his life. It explores his Francophonia with regards to the content of his works and Tzara's concept of selfhood, nation, identity, and nationalism. The author argues that Tzara has been neglected by literary criticism due to his status as an ethno-national hybrid.
