- Title
Moderators, Mates, and Matchmakers: Effects of Oral Contraceptives on Sexual Desire May Also Depend on Partners’ Behavior and the Role of Female Choice.
- Authors
Puts, David A.; Pope, Lauramarie E.
- Abstract
The authors discuss a study that examined the effect of oral contraceptives (OC) on sexual desire. The study focused on the target of sexual desire and the congruency between OC use when a woman met her current partner and her current use as potential moderators of OC effects on sexual desire. It is asserted that OC may alter mate preferences and other aspects of female sexuality in ways usually associated with pregnancy since OC use mimics its hormonal conditions.
