- Title
"The Battered-Child Syndrome" 50 Years Later: Much Accomplished, Much Left to Do.
- Authors
Leventhal, John M.; Krugman, Richard D.
- Abstract
The author presents his views on physical abuse of children with reference to "The Battered-Child Syndrome," an article by C. H. Kempe and colleagues published in a 1962 issue of the periodical. He reflects that the maltreatment to the child range from mild to severe depending on several factors, including the length of time the maltreatment occurs, the child's age, and the relation between abuser and child. He comments that several home visiting models are effective in preventive child abuse.
