- Abstract
Markhoz goat is a prolific and high economic value goat breed in Iran. The high fecundity is a very important trait in goat production. Studies have shown that natural mutations in prolific sheep breeds in BMP15 gene mutations are crucial for increasing litter size as well as ovulation rate. FecXH, FecXI, FecXG and FecXB mutations increased prolificacy in sheep. In this study, based on these mutation information in sheep, PCR primers were used to mask polymorphisms in 200 female goats of the Sanandaj research center of Markhoz goat using PCR-RFLP method. Results showed that FecXH, FecX', FecXc and FecXB loci were monomorphic. Therefore, it is indispensable to survey other genes or loci in order to establish marker assisted selection techniques and study the prolific mechanism of the Markhoz goat.
