- Abstract
The article presents a study which examined the link between mental health and horror stories and films. Among the examples of horror films are "Frankenstein," "Vampyre," and "Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde." It claims that films are effective tools in shaping public perceptions of mental illness and psychiatry. The three types of psychiatrists in film, as well as the five types of forensic psychiatrists in fiction and movies like the activist, the hired gun and the jack-of-all-trades are cited.
