- Abstract
The article discusses the history and construction of the Denver and Rio Grande (D&RG) Depot in Salt Lake City, Utah. The depot was designed by architect Henry Schlacks. Construction was completed in 1910. The history of the D&RG Western Railway company is also talked about. The author addresses competition in the American railroad industry in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. The competition between the Union Pacific railroad company and D&RG is explored. The article also discusses D&RG president Edward Jeffrey and his relationship with Schlacks.
