- Abstract
This essay reports on the programs used to "treat" homosexuality. The ex-gay movement is attempting to "cure" people recently starting to promote "prehomosexuality" intervention. One of the article's author's attended was the "Focus on the Family Love Won Out conference," a meeting of ex-gay activists. The movement no longer claims that homosexuality is a choice, but instead treats it as a mental illness or addiction that may constitute a lifelong struggle. New studies are showing that the therapies used by theses groups may be psychologically harmful.
