- Title
The Marriage Fight Is Setting Us Back.
- Authors
D'Emilio, John
- Abstract
The article discusses same-sex marriage legislation, and the effect it has had on the gay community. The author argues that the struggle to achieve gay marriage rights has actually resulted in more anti-gay sentiment and legislation in the U.S. More and more states are declaring marriage is a union strictly between a man and a women; this definition was not written into law before the fight for same-sex marriage began. A call for new intellectual and strategic directions in the fight for equal rights is presented.
