- Abstract
Environmental train-induced vibration may product damages to nearby structures, sensitive instruments and the safety of railways, especially in seasonally regions due to the mechanical properties of soil significantly changing with the alternation of seasons. To this end, field investigations are carried out on the Harbin–Dalian high-speed railway (HD-HSR) to study the environmental vibration characteristics of bridge pier and its around sites, and the effect of site conditions on the vibration. The acceleration responses of different test points in time and frequency domains are analyzed in detail. Also, numerical simulation based on finite element method is adopted to study the vibration propagation on the different site conditions and the influence of the frozen state of soil on vibration. And the relationships between peak acceleration, speed train, elastic modulus of soil and distance from the pier are analyzed based on dimensional analysis, respectively. The results show that there are significant differences between the vibration characteristics of the pier top and sites, the sites and the soil frozen state have a great influence on vibration, and the influence decreases with the increase in distance from the pier. Also, there are linear relationships between the logarithm of peak acceleration, distance and train speed, and between the logarithm of peak acceleration, distance and modulus of soil, respectively. Overall, the study provides some useful recommendations for the prediction of vibration.
