- Title
ASIAN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS IN A NEW ERA OF INSTABILITY.
- Authors
CAMPBELL, JOEL R.
- Abstract
Several possible scenarios for the development of the international relations of East Asia can be imagined including a Cold War-style conflict between China and America, a conflict between China and its Southeast Asian neighbors, continuation of the status quo, an ad hoc lessening of tensions throughout the region, and heightened regional cooperation and integration. But given the recent Asian tendency toward peaceful resolution of disputes and the widespread acceptance of the ‘ASEAN Way’ of collaboration and dialogue, scenarios involving enhanced cooperation are most likely.
