- Title
PUMPING LIFE BACK INTO PETROLEUM CLUBS.
- Authors
Morris, Gregory D. L.; Warndof, Donna
- Abstract
The article looks at the resurgence of petroleum clubs, social clubs designed for executives in the oil industry. The Petroleum Club of Denver, Colorado, is highlighted. The author comments on the Petroleum Club of Fort Worth, Texas, which has continued uninterrupted since its inception in 1953 unlike several petroleum clubs that disbanded during times of unprofitable financial conditions. The efforts of the Petro-Canada company to get the Calgary Petroleum Club of Alberta, Canada, to admit women are discussed. The author notes that executives in various segments of the energy industry became popular members of these clubs during times when membership decreased.
