- Title
The Talk of Main Street: A Bray Old Girl Is Coming to Lunch.
- Abstract
The article describes Hurricane Carol, which arrived at Martha's Vineyard, Massachusetts on August 31, 1954. Teacher Chester V. Sweatt discusses the storm and the damage that it caused. The extent of the damage, for example, includes the piano at the Edgartown Yacht Club being swept to the building's deck, a chimney collapse at Harbor View, and waist high water in Edgartown, which led police to rope off Main Street to allow shop owners and townspeople to begin to clean and repair their damaged businesses.
