- Authors
MILLER, HERBIE
- Abstract
This article presents information about Jamaican jazz musician and tenor saxophonist Wilton Gaynair. Gaynair attended the Alpha Boys' School in Kingston, Jamaica, a school known for training many of the best Jamaican musicians. The author notes that he learned about Gaynair through his own father and recalls the first time he heard Gaynair's recording of "Blue Bogey." The article also notes that Gaynair's "Blue Bogey" helps to bridge the gap between Jamaica's popular music and the early formative years in the island's music history.
