- Abstract
The article presents a study which evaluates the industrial scale accelerator driven system (ADS) 400 MWth, 2.5 mA, a subcritical reactor, burning capability as a way for waste management through transmutation which was conducted in Belgium. The study employed the ALEPH-1.1.2 code which is a Monte Carlo burn up code, as well as MCNPX-2.5.0 and ORIGEN2.2 codes. The first steps for the calculation of burning capability efficiency of the ADS are fuel isotopic composition definition and core configuration which used an inert matrix fuel of actinides including plutonium, americium, curium, and magnesium oxide. The processes for the isotopic composition of the ADS fuel are also provided.
