- Abstract
Furthermore, all patients had endoscopy because they were symptomatic, and the study population did not include asymptomatic patients including asymptomatic erosive esophagitis patients. In addition, it is difficult to comment on the true incidence of EE in SG and RYGB without examining asymptomatic patients in SG and RYGB as well as performing preoperative endoscopy to note the development vs progression of EE. In the study by Genco et al., patients underwent preoperative endoscopy before SG and postoperative endoscopy regardless of symptoms.
