- Abstract
Traditionally, the fight against organized crime has remained outside the prison system, which has been one of the most significant strategic errors in the confrontation against organized criminal phenomenon. This neglect has led, in some countries, the realization of the worst prison possible scenario (the capture of the prison system by organized crime), setting a major threat to its security and by extension (criminological contagion), given the growing transnationalization of organized crime to international security. In such a scenario, the use of criminal intelligence operation to counter the projection of organized crime, not a choice but a necessity.
