- Authors
Quirk, Trevor
- Abstract
The article reports that tuberculosis research has been severely affected by spending cuts imposed by the U.S. federal government under the so-called sequester. Tuberculosis research is said to be one of the fields that are already underfunded. It is noted that the tuberculosis pandemic led to 1.4 million deaths in 2011. Tuberculosis Trials Consortium (TBTC) steering committee chairman Neil Schluger explained the impact of budget cuts on clinical trials for tuberculosis.
