- Abstract
The article discusses the use of the triple A risk model (AAA) in predicting overall survival (OS) in patients with myelofibrosis. The study analyzed 256 patients with myelofibrosis and found that higher AAA scores were associated with older age, higher neutrophil counts, and lower lymphocyte counts. The AAA score was able to significantly discriminate OS in both overt fibrotic myelofibrosis (oMF) and prefibrotic primary myelofibrosis (prePMF) patients. However, the AAA score did not provide independent prognostic information when evaluated together with standard risk scores. The authors conclude that the AAA score may have limited value in myelofibrosis patients compared to essential thrombocythemia and polycythemia vera.
