- Title
Snake-Oil Or Fair Early Childhood Education Policy?
- Authors
O'Neill, John; Adams, Paul
- Abstract
The authors reflect on the Early Childhood Education (ECE) deputy secretary's proposed educational programme to solve the early childhood teacher shortage in New Zealand. They note the Ministry of Education's contention that the government should abandon a requirement that calls for registered teachers in 100% of learning centres due to insufficient support for the initiative. They anticipate that doing so would leave families with a 50-50 chance of having a qualified teacher for their children in 2012.
