- Abstract
The article describes the case of the effects of the March 11, 2001 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant collapse in Japan on migrating salmon and other seafoods affected by the collapse. Topics discussed include the programs for monitoring of salmon for radioactivity put in place after the nuclear incident, the factors that hindered international monitoring efforts and the criticisms of the U.S. and Canadian governments for poor risk communication in relation to monitoring fish radiation.
