Legislative Prayer and the Secret Costs of Religious Endorsements.
- Authors
Lund, Christopher C.
- Abstract
The article discusses the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in Marsh v. Chambers, a legislative prayer case, and its implications to the Establisment Clause of the First Amendment. It examines the constitutional limitations that lower courts have placed on legislative prayer and its impact on religious freedom. It argues that legislative prayer cases provide a unique insight into the potential dangers of religious endorsements and on the future of the Establishment Clause.
