- Title
Acoustics: A potential diagnostic tool for lubricants.
- Authors
Canter, Neil
- Abstract
The article focuses on the use of jet engine noise to determine the lubrication problems in aircraft propulsion. Topics discussed include the connection between sound and gas jet stage lighting based on the observation of J. Le Conte in 1858, the turbulence generated by jet engines and noise, and the result of the study by Joseph Nichols and colleagues on how noise is generated in the subsonic jet engine using input-output analysis.
