- Title
THE EFFECT OF SCIENCE TEACHING METHODS ON THE UNDERSTANDING OF SCIENCE.
- Authors
Olstad, Roger G.
- Abstract
The article discusses a study on the effect of science teaching methods on the ability to understand science. The most significant aspect of this change is the increased attention being given to a broader understanding of the nature of science as processes of scientific inquiry. Limiting science to the study of objects, forces and phenomena is no longer acceptable in most of the newer programs. This study was an effort to determine the level of science background information possessed by prospecting elementary school teachers, the relationship of this information to the student's understanding of science and the effect of a course in the teaching of science on this understanding.
