- Abstract
The article is about the development of thermoplastic hybrid structures made of planed aluminum and recycled high-performance fibers. Common fiber-metal laminates (FML) such as Glare, Arall, and Carall have improved properties compared to conventional aluminum sheets and fiber-reinforced plastics, but they also have some disadvantages such as potential delamination and crack formation. To solve these problems, a new approach is presented in which planed aluminum fibers, recycled high-performance fibers, and thermoplastic fibers are homogeneously mixed on a micro level. The goal is to develop cost-effective gAl-rHLF-fiber sheets and hybrid composite materials with improved properties for lightweight construction. This approach offers an economical alternative to expensive FML and enables the textile industry to develop new products and technologies for the composite market.
