- Title
Exploring Aging through Intergenerational and Cross-Cultural Narratives.
- Authors
Patterson, Fiona M.
- Abstract
The article discusses cross-cultural and intergenerational narratives relating to elders that can be used in undergraduate social work classes in human behavior in the social environment, policy, and practice. Standards from the Council on Social Work Education, the Code of Ethics of the National Association of Social Workers, and the Universal Declaration of Human Rights that relate to this type of teaching are addressed. Each narrative has been employed successfully by this author in an undergraduate or a joint Bachelor of Social Work/Master of Social Work class. Part of this study includes learning how social work ethics require us to promote maximum development of communities and environments, as well as of individuals.
