The article reports on a study that examined the role of respiratory function tests in determining the optimal time to begin non-invasive ventilation for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Highlights include the estimated number of people in the U.S. who are diagnosed annually with ALS, five respiratory function tests in patients with ALS, and the Ventec Life Systems developed by Ventec One-Circuit that tracks ventilation, oxygen, and nebulization on one device.
