- Abstract
The article focuses on the health and safety concerns of theatrical designers and technicians in the U.S. It offers information on the scope of the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) , which mandates that employer must furnish an employment place free from any hazards to employees. It notes the differences between the force of the OSHA and the theatrical tradition's unmovable object that the Health & Safety Commission has been working out to be reconciled and the hazards that continue to be the frequent concerns in theaters. The author indicates the shift towards a more safety theatre culture and the participation of the United States Insititute for Theatre Technology Inc. on the OSHA Alliance program.
