DISCOVERING JOHN COLTER.
- Authors
FORREST COULTER, TIMOTHY
- Abstract
The article discusses updated research concerning the family and death of Corps of Discovery expedition member and scout John Colter (JC) as of 2014. According to the article, DNA testing revealed a connection between Colter's paternal family to the Cannon family of Virginia. It examines speculation that Colter may have been the grandson of the John and Isabella Coalter family of Augusta County, Virginia, Colter's residence in Kentucky upon joining the Corps of Discovery, and his May 7, 1812, death.
