- Abstract
The characteristics of 1-D samplings are examined for calculating the 3D discrete diamond-shaped frequency distributions. 3-D discrete diamond-shaped frequency distributions appear in the 3-D harmonic balance method used for circuit analyses. The 1-D sampling by use of bandpass sampling has been known to be able to make the ratio of the number of sampling points to that of the necessary frequency components approach 1 when the 2-D discrete diamond-shaped frequency distributions are calculated. However, the sampling is found to make the ratio as high as about 1.5 when the 3-D discrete diamond-shaped frequency distributions are calculated. In these situations, exhaustive search, which numerically scans all the variable sampling parameters to find the real samplings, is used. The numerical results show that the ratio of the number of sampling points to that of the necessary frequency components can be reduced to about 1.09 in the most efficient samplings.
