- Abstract
This article discusses the emergence of new media like the Internet and other digital means of communication in human's rituals of death and dying. The author relates the link between media and the dead back in the oral cultures, when people associate the media with the dead in part because media are both means of communication and of memory and of remembrance. The author further presents his personal views on the existence of technology and how cyberspace is becoming to be considered a "heavenly space". He contends that despite the onset of revolutionary e-mail services and other electronic forms, there seems little advance in terms of media history and in the links between media and the afterlife.
