- Abstract
Criptorquida é o animal que não tem a descida de um ou ambos os testículos para a bolsa escrotal. Em associação a essa anomalia, pode ter hipoplasia testicular, onde há uma diminuição da formação do epitélio germinativo dos túbulos seminíferos e a consequente diminuição do volume testicular. O diagnóstico é por meio da ultrassonografia e da palpação retal para possível visualização das estruturas dos testículos e determinação de sua localização. O tratamento indicado é a orquiectomia e, se necessário, a laparotomia exploratória para buscar o testículo ectópico, o qual, a depender do tamanho e localização, aumenta o tempo cirúrgico. Aliado a isso, é feita a citologia aspirativa, que determina a presença de células características do tecido biopsiado. Visto que o risco de tempo anestésico em equinos é alto e a mortalidade destes pacientes submetidos à anestesia geral e decúbito dorsal pode chegar até 1%, a não resolução rápida pode acarretar diversas complicações como excessiva depressão cardiorrespiratória. Quanto mais rápido o procedimento, menos complicações pósoperatórias este paciente terá. Foi atendido no Hospital Escola de Medicina Veterinária do Centro Universitário das Faculdades Integradas de Ourinhos um equino macho, da raça Quarto de Milha, de 2 anos de idade e 390 kg, com queixa de ausência de um testículo na bolsa escrotal e o desejo do proprietário em realizar orquiectimia. Realizou-se ultrassonografia e palpação retal e foram encontrados apenas tecidos semelhantes ao funículo espermático. Com os exames dentro da normalidade, o animal foi encaminhado para uma laparotomia exploratória e posterior orquiectomia. Durante o procedimento, encontrou-se uma estrutura semelhante a um testículo medindo 0,6 por 0,4 cm. Para confirmação, decidiu-se fazer citologia aspirativa, a qual constatou a presença de muitas células características, como as espermátides e espermatócitos, confirmando a suspeita. O animal foi castrado e encaminhado para a recuperação sem demais complicações. Frente ao desafio na busca pelo testículo hipoplásico, concluise que a realização da citologia aspirativa durante o procedimento cirúrgico, a fim de confirmar a suspeita de testículo hipoplásico, mostrou-se eficiente pela sua praticidade, rapidez e custo baixo, contribuindo para a elucidação do caso com a diminuição do tempo anestésico e de suas complicações.
