- Title
THE ISRAELI-JORDANIAN AGREEMENT: PEACE OR PAX AMERICANA?
- Authors
Zunes, Stephen
- Abstract
The article discusses the peace agreement between Israel and Jordan signed on October 26, 1994. According to the author, King Hussein of Jordan appears to be forced to accept the terms of the agreement by the administration of U.S. President Bill Clinton. Although most of the terms met several of Jordan's demands such as the aspects of territory, water and security, he asserts that the peace process took place outside a comprehensive Arab-Israeli peace agreement. He claims that the major reason for Jordan's move is the offer of the Clinton's administration to bail out the country's debt.
