- Abstract
The article examines the effect of insect growth regulator insecticide pyriproxyfen on the development stages and embryogenesis of California red scale (CRS) or Aonidiella aurantii, a major pest of citrus throughout the world. Application of pyriproxyfen resulted to 100 percent mortality of first-instar nymphs and 91.7 percent mortality of second-instar nymphs. Findings show that pyriproxyfen supressed embryogenesis in CRS females. Results suggest that pyriproxyfen is effective in controlling CRS nymphs.
