- Abstract
This document discusses the use of orthobiologics in the treatment of knee osteoarthritis (OA). OA is a chronic disease that affects millions of people worldwide, particularly the elderly. Current management options for knee OA are limited and often unsatisfactory. Orthobiologics, such as platelet-rich plasma (PRP) and cell-based therapies, have shown promise in preclinical studies for their disease-modifying effects. However, clinical studies have not consistently demonstrated the same benefits, possibly due to different assessment parameters and tools. Further research is needed to fully understand the potential of orthobiologics in the clinical setting.
