- Abstract
The Duke Activity Status Index (DASI) questionnaire is a tool used to evaluate the functional status of patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery. One of the domains in the DASI is sexual function, but in Japan, cultural norms often make patients uncomfortable when asked about this topic. To address this, the author suggests using family reunion activities as an alternative domain for sexual function in the DASI. These activities align with a similar metabolic equivalent (MET) range and reflect emotional aspects similar to family love. Further validation of this substitution is needed, but it provides an accessible and suitable alternative for evaluating functional capacity in patients undergoing non-cardiac surgery.
