- Title
Teaching for the future: restorative legal professionals require a restorative education.
- Authors
Marder, Ian D.
- Abstract
The article discusses the importance of incorporating restorative justice into legal education. The author, who has experience teaching in a School of Law, highlights the unconventional legal education system in Ireland, where law students often study alongside criminology students and have opportunities to learn about restorative justice. The author argues that legal education should emphasize alternative models of justice and focus on building a more restorative and transformative system. Additionally, the article explores the concept of restorative pedagogy and suggests that educators should not only teach about restorative justice but also model restorative values and practices in the classroom.
