- Abstract
The article discusses the building rating programs in the U.S. The ENERGY STAR of the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) rates the energy performance of commercial buildings while the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certifies buildings in terms of sustainability. Moreover, the Building Energy Quotient (Building EQ) of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) employs the asset- and operation-based rating techniques.
