- Authors
Lstiburek, Joseph W.
- Abstract
The article offers information on the advanced framing used in the renovation of a 150-year-old cottage in Illinois. It mentions that the changes made were the replacement of the current industry standard wall, which is a 2x4 frame at 16 inches centers, with a 2x4 frame at 24 inches centers along with some parts. The said replacements were cheaper and faster to build because it only uses 5%-10% less lumber, with 30% fewer pieces, and saves energy as it reduces 15%-25% framing factor.
