- Abstract
This essay deals with Fernando Vallejo's work as manifestation of a queer writing and mise en scène. By finding a foothold primarily on Roland Barthes' "La mort de l'auteur" and Hélène Cixous' "Le rire de la Méduse" I examine his writings as well as his public lectures and interviews. Thus, I offer a detailed analysis of Vallejo's literary strategies while taking distance from any psychological and biographical approaches to his work. Instead, I tackle the many contradictions inherent to the writing process and the construction of a main character, who is both alter ego and author. In summary, this essay shows how Vallejo's queer writing questions the limits of heteronormative language through exploring the furious subjectivity of an execrable homosexual persona.
