- Abstract
The article presents an examination of the relationship between rational decision making and measurement in the field of psychology. It explores work that was conducted at the University of Michigan during the 1950s and 1960s by psychologists such as Clyde Coombs and Ward Edwards and examines the link that was established between statistics, decision making and measurement in psychology. It discusses the development of mathematical psychology and behavioral decision research at the University of Michigan and draws on research that observed human perception and decision making.
