- Abstract
Given the increase in respiratory complications in SGA babies who had received steroids it might be that steroids are not effective in preventing respiratory complications in SGA babies, or that SGA babies with a worse antenatal and therefore neonatal prognosis are more likely to receive steroids. Current guidelines do not give clear indications on maternal steroid administration to prevent adverse respiratory outcomes in late preterm deliveries. Some studies suggest that antenatal steroids are recommended in small-for-gestational-age (SGA) fetuses; we aimed to investigate maternal steroid administration in late preterm singleton pregnancies.
