- Abstract
The article focuses on stem cell research which has split public opinion over chimeras and embryonic hybrids. It mentions that a chimera is an animal or human which embodies cells from different animal or human. Anyone who has undergone any kind of transplant of blood transfusion is considered as chimera because their body has cells from a donor. Accordingly, a permission for scientists at 2 British centres to make human-animal cytoplasmic hybrid embryos for stem cell study has been granted by the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority (HFEA).
