- Title
Preventing falls in hospital -- time to change step?
- Authors
Hayes, Nicky
- Abstract
The author discusses the time to change step on preventing falls in the hospital. The National Patient Safety Agency's (NPSA) report indicated that responsible use of bedrails do actually reduce the number of falls out of bed. The author believed that there should be place for using alarms, gadgets or hip protectors if the individual is likely to benefit from it and should have a system in place to provide the necessary equipment monitoring, storage or laundry. He said that there should be measure to manage delirium before the accidents occur.
