- Title
Opening of two 'Victorian' observatories.
- Abstract
The article presents information on the opening of two observatories in Great Britain. The adult education center, run at Pendrell Hall, in the hamlet of Codsall Wood, Staffordshire, is a Victorian mansion. A small observatory was established there containing a 30cm Newtonian reflector as the principal instrument. A Calver reflector was obtained on loan from Bob Marriott, Curator of Instruments, British Astronomical Association. A transit instrument of Victorian vintage was also found and purchased for restoration. A similar observatory was being constructed within the Black Country Museum site at Dudley, West Midlands. Both the observatories are to be opened on June 16, 2006.
