- Abstract
This article focuses on a singular ludic phenomenon: hidden-play in preschool class. This qualitative-interpretative study permitted us to observe unauthorized play which creates its own space in an educational environment that is often hostile to it. Three types of hidden play were identified: gearing-play, acting-as-if, and finding-creating. Analysis reveals that the hidden-play represents a transitional space allowing the child to appropriate the school universe. We conclude that the hidden-play is within the very nature of the child and expresses a trend of regaining play rather than its decline.
