- Title
Coral dermatitis in the aquarium industry.
- Authors
Tong, D.
- Abstract
Coral injuries are probably fairly common but reports are rare in the literature, most likely due to under-reporting or not bringing them to medical attention. Previous reports were of divers or swimmers who ventured into the natural habitat of these animals. This report presents the case of a 37-year-old marine aquarium shop worker, with a history of hay fever and contact allergy to prawns, he was stung on the volar right forearm when he accidentally brushed against the tentacles of a specimen of "euphyllia picteti." His case appears to be the first such report concerning a worker employed in the marine aquarium industry.
